.:: Sode ::.By: Robert Brasington DESCRIPTION: The Sode workshop involves the use of ripstop nylon, a satin inlay, and organza to complete the kite. Varying disciplines are required to handle each of the fabrics. There will be a range of oriental inspired commercially made fabrics available for inlay from which to choose. These have been carefully selected while I have travelled in Asia especially for this project. The kite is constructed with carbon and fibreglass rods. SIZE: The head of the kite is 800mm high by 725 across and has 5M tails. DURATION OF WORKSHOP: 8 hours. COST: $65 Ausd GENERAL COMMENTS: The kite is a great flyer, and a nice presence in the sky. It is able to be trained. All hardware and fabric is supplied as well as all the non standard materials needed for construction. The participants will need an average level of experience. They will need a functioning sewing machine and the usual kite making tools will be needed for group use. I simple construction manual is supplied to enable participants to finish the project at a later date. The project focuses on the handling of Organza and an unusual but innovative approach to the inlay of the fabrics onto the black ripstop surround. This is arguably the prettiest kite in the workshop portfolio. | ||||
